Supervisors Module (2 hours)
Conducted with supervisors and management staff prior to the implementation of staff training in order to lay the groundwork for the successful adoption and sustainment of this program.
Module 1: "Relevance to You and Your Work Group" (1-1.5 hrs)
How to recognize and address substance abuse in the workplace and identify current levels of risk related to substance use in the workplace.
Module 2: "Team Ownership of Policy: the Risks & Strengths Game" (1-1.5 hrs)
Understand how substance use policy protects employees and identify how policy reduces risk and enhances teamwork and employee health.
Module 3: "Reducing Stigma and Tolerance and Increasing Responsiveness" (1-1.5hrs)
Identify both personal and group attitudes towards coworkers with substance abuse or behavioral problems and increase responsiveness to those issues.
Module 4: "Stress, Problem solving and Substance Use" (1-1.5 hrs)
Identify the effects of stress and identify personal coping styles and whether stress is a risk factor for alcohol and or drug use.
Module 5: "Workplace Communication Skills" (1-1.5 hrs)
Identifying communication norms and responsibilities in the workplace and effective communication skills. Understanding informal and formal methods of communication.
Module 6: "Encouragement: The NUDGE Model" (1-1.5 hrs)
Notice, Understand, Decide, Use Guidelines, Encourage and understanding each of these steps.
Adverse Childhood Experiences (A.C.E’s) (1-3 hr)
This training is a brief introductory presentation on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), data from the ACE Study, how early adversity as a child can impact adult health and the steps that we can take to address trauma in those who we work with and create safe environments and relationships in which trauma can begin to heal.
Trauma Informed Care (T.I.C.) (2-3 hr)
Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) is an approach that assumes that an individual is more likely than not to have a history of trauma. Trauma-Informed Care recognizes the presence of trauma symptoms and acknowledges the role trauma may play in an individual's life. Implementing and sustaining a trauma-informed approach involves improving health and wellness programs, ongoing staff training and development.
Mental Health First Aid (8 hr. course)
Mental Health First Aid course teaches you how to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The training helps you identify, understand, and respond to signs of addictions and mental illnesses.
Q.P.R. Training (2-3 hr)
Question, Persuade, and Refer) Gatekeeper Training for Suicide Prevention is a 1-2 hour educational program designed to teach lay and professional "gatekeepers" the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to respond.
Naloxone Training (1-2 hr)
This program educates opioid users, their family members and/or employers on how to recognize the signs and symptoms of a drug overdose, when to call emergency medical services, when to perform CPR, and how to administer naloxone/narcan nasally.
